No more colonels

not your father's junta

According to everyone’s expert analysis, there will not be a coup in Greece.

The government’s sacking of the whole military Chiefs of Staff yesterday is just normal politics.

Even if the whole country goes back to the days of barter, the colonels will not march in.

That’s the good news!

The bad news — which points to how far the degradation of democracy, the economy, and the European project has gone — is that we are talking in fairly normal tones about a coup in Greece at all.
